Akilan Sankara

Managing Director

Akilan was appointed Managing Director of Zamil Steel India effective from 1 ^st January 2022. He previously held position in Saudi Arabia as the General Manager of Zamil Pre Engineered Buildings Company Ltd, Building Component Solutions LLC, and Zamil Structural Steel Company Ltd.

Akilan graduated as a Mechanical Engineer and completed his Master's from NIT Trichy, specializing in Welding Engineering.

He brings 28 years of wealthy experience and long association with Zamil Steel, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). His outstanding contribution in various strategic and top leadership role includes managing diverse business verticals such as Pre-Engineered Buildings, Sandwich Panels, Structural Steel, Pressure Vessels and Transmission & Telecom Towers.

Akilan's business acumen, global industry connects, dealing with major national and international customers and continual customer focus will benefit Zamil Steel India to rise to the next level.

His professional certifications include European Engineer by FEANI-Brussels, Professional Engineer by Engineering Council of UK, Manager of Quality & Organizational Excellence (CQM) and Quality Engineer (CQE) by American Society of Quality (ASQ).

He is an active member of several renowned national & international associations like Institution of Engineers (India), American Welding Society (AWS), American Society of Quality (ASQ), National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE, USA), American Society of NDT (ASNT) and the Welding Institute (UK).

Puneet Mathur

Assistant Managing Director

Puneet has joined Zamil Steel as Assistant Managing Director in July 2022, responsible for Sales & Marketing, Business Development, Construction and Engineering Functions.

Puneet carries a rich experience of 28 years in steel industries starting from hot rolling mill, processing line and pre-engineered buildings. He has worked with renowned companies like JSW, Kirby and Tata BlueScope.

He has completed his education in B.E Electronics from Shivaji University and he is alumnus of IMS Calcutta.

Dipankar Dey

Senior Director - Operations & Project Execution

Dipankar Dey is Senior Director of Operations and Project Execution at Zamil Steel Buildings India. With over 24 years of industry experience, he oversees multi-plant manufacturing, nationwide project delivery, and supply chain operations across the industrial, pre-engineered building (PEB), and heavy structural steel sectors.

In his current role, Dipankar manages P&L performance across two manufacturing plants and more than 70 active job sites across India, leading a technical team of 250+ professionals and 1,400+ site personnel. Under his operational leadership, the business unit achieved a 38% top-line growth while driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and supply chain efficiency.

During his 20 years tenure at Zamil Steel India, Dipankar has held several key executive positions. As Director of Sales, Marketing & Business Development, he headed a USD 80M commercial portfolio spanning India, Nepal, Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa. As Director of Project Management, he directed annual shipments of over 100000 MT of PEB & structural steel and oversaw 150 projects per year.

Throughout his career, Dipankar has driven digital transformation and process automation from estimation stage to execution.

His technical background includes project execution roles at Tata BlueScope Steel, Shapoorji Pallonji, ITD Cementation, and Skanska, where he led major civil and marine infrastructure works.

Dipankar holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Durgapur and completed the Executive Education Programme at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore.

Vasudev Srinivasarao

Director - Engineering

Vasudev is working as Director - Engineering and has responsibility for complete Engineering Operations of Zamil Steel India.

An Engineering graduate in Civil Engineering from Karnatak University, he is also graduate at Law & PGDBM from IGNOU. He is also a member of Institute of Engineers, Kolkata. He is with Zamil Steel for over 5 years and is a responsible Senior Engineering professional with 30+ years' varied experience in the fields of Pre-Engineered Buildings, Oil & Gas, Chemical/Petro-Chemical, Power, Textile, Fertilizer, Infrastructure, EPC Projects. He is adept at developing and implementing business strategies to improve operations efficiency. Committed to motivating & grooming staff to achieve goals while ensuring efficient project progress.

Apart from ensuring quality in design & detailed engineering to the internal & external stake holders, he is guiding team with technical issues & drive the projects for completion as desired. Ensuring firm schedules for quotes, Design & Detailing compliance with operations, he has implemented efficient cost management ideas & methods and systems in Engineering.

He is instrumental in leading designing of various complex Engineering projects at Zamil Steel, and are enlisted in infrastructure magazine regularly.

Pulin Trivedi

Director - Project Execution

Pulin is a Civil Engineer from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, 1991 batch and has more than 31 years of rich experience in project management & execution and holds a Master of Environmental Protection degree from International Independent Ecological-Political University, Moscow, Russia.

Pulin has held multiple leadership roles across functions in the organizations since 1991 getting deep exposure to the core Pre-Engineering industry, managing stakeholders and high-level management. Prior to joining Zamil Steel India, he has worked with Tata BlueScope Steel Pvt. Ltd. as General Manager Building Solution Division and he also worked at Tiger Steel Engineering (I) Pvt Ltd.

He has rich experience across Sales, Project Management & Construction functions in Pre-Engineering industry and was instrumental in developing strategies for enhancing customer satisfaction and DIFOT – Delivery in full and on time for PEB segments, including implementation of Theory of Constraint concept in PEB Business.

Pulin oversaw the transition of manual to mechanized work methodology in PEB construction, emphasizing safe working with "zero harm" policy. He has rich experience in techno-commercial functions and successfully managed PEB projects for various segments of MNCs and Indian corporate clients.

Sajan Joseph

Director - Operations

Mr. Sajan Joseph Joined to Zamil Steel India as Director Operations since March 2022, Sajan is a Mechanical Engineer with around 30 years of vast experience from Gulf sector from leading manufacturing companies Such as Belleli Saudi, AMA Bahrain, Eversendai Qatar, Kirby Dubai, IBSF Riyadh, MISA Saudi, AGN Kuwait, AIDerley Saudi, and more than 10 years of working with Zamil Steel Mother plants at Dammam Saudi at Structural steel Division and Process Equipment Division.

He was holding different level of top role responsibilities such as Engineer, Superintendent, Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Operations Manager, Division Manager, DGM Operations, GM Operations etc.

Before the gulf sector, he was working in India for 7 years in the field of Oil & Gas - Off Shore Drilling Jackets & Decks, Petrochemicals - Fabrication, Construction, Shutdown & Maintenance fields.

He brings 37 years of wealthy experience and long association with Zamil steel Dammam, His outstanding contribution in various strategic and top leadership role includes managing diverse business verticals such as PEB, Sandwich Panels, Structural steels, High rise & Airport Building structural steels , Process Equipment's, Heat Exchangers, Air coolers, Oil Storage tanks, Oil fired Heaters, Petro chemical field Piping works, Oil & gas Modular Skids, Oil & Gas Metering skids, Chemical Injection Skids , Oil & Gas - Off Shore Jackets & Decks, Aluminum Smelter plant Equipment’s , Petro chemical plants Shut down & Maintenance etc.

Nitesh Kathrani

Director - Sales & Business Development

Nitesh Kathrani is an accomplished and seasoned business leader with over 21 years of experience spanning sales leadership, business development, strategic planning and revenue growth across the industrial and infrastructure sectors.

As Director – Sales & Business Development, Nitesh leads the company's pan-India sales operations, with a strategic focus on market expansion, customer excellence and sustainable business growth. He brings a strong understanding of complex, project-driven businesses and combines commercial insight with a disciplined execution approach to create long-term value for customers and the organization.

Prior to joining the Zamil Steel Buildings India, Nitesh held leadership and commercial roles with leading organizations including Kirby Building Systems India Ltd., Tata Motors, HCL Infosystems and Tata Ryerson. Throughout his career, he has built a strong track record of delivering commercial performance, developing high-performing teams and driving business growth in competitive markets.

At Kirby Building Systems, Nitesh played a pivotal role in scaling regional business operations, delivering multifold revenue growth and sustaining significant market share through customer-centric strategies, key account management and operational excellence. His experience encompasses capital-intensive products, technical selling, project-driven businesses and profit-centre management.

A strategic thinker with a strong execution orientation, Nitesh has led cross-functional teams across sales, project management and construction operations. His leadership approach is built on collaboration, accountability, innovation and developing enduring relationships with clients and business partners.

Nitesh holds a PGDM in Marketing & Operations and a Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering & Management. He has also completed executive leadership training from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.

In his current role with Zamil Steel Buildings India, Nitesh is focused on strengthening the company's presence across India, accelerating sustainable business growth and delivering greater value to customers and stakeholders.

Sunil Gupta

Director Finance

Sunil Gupta currently serves as Director – Finance at Zamil Steel Buildings India Pvt. Ltd. Sunil leads the Finance, Accounts, Legal & Compliance, and Treasury functions. With over 30 years of cross-industry experience, he has worked across the Automobile, Telecom, Engineering, and Processing sectors, partnering closely with senior management on strategic financial, taxation, regulatory, and business initiatives.

His areas of expertise include Ind AS migration, GST implementation, working capital structuring with banks and financial institutions, company incorporation, mergers and consolidation, and vertical demerger of businesses. He has played a key role in driving financial transformation, strengthening governance frameworks, and supporting strategic business decisions.

Sunil is a Cost & Management Accountant (CMA) from The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) and a Commerce Graduate. Recognized for his analytical and disciplined approach, combined with a strategic mindset, he brings extensive practical experience in financial accounting, management accounting, financial reporting, taxation, treasury, and regulatory matters.

His leadership approach is grounded in creating value-driven financial strategies, maintaining strong financial discipline, and aligning finance functions with broader organizational objectives.

Sheetal Sawant

Deputy General Manager - Human Capital & Systems

Sheetal leading Human Capital & Systems at Zamil Steel buildings India Pvt Ltd as DGM - Human Capital & Systems. She came on board in 2017 as Manager - Human Capital, and from thereon, she’s been the real engine behind the company’s HR transformation.

She brings 17 years of experience from manufacturing sector to the Organization. She’s being instrumental in building smart Tech driven HR systems from scratch, led the development and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives which are aligned with the overall business strategy keeping the ever-changing human resource dynamics at forefront. She helped teams find their stride and kept Team engaged and motivated.

Her grasp of employment law makes her a seasoned HR leader, and she has a knack for organizational planning that are second to none. Communication is where she truly stands out. she's built a track record of crafting initiatives that not only lift company profitability but also fuel long-term growth. Across her career, she's steered HR functions and rallied teams around shared corporate goals.

Sumit Bathla

General Manager - Internal Audit, Risk Management & Compliance

Sumit Bathla currently serves as the General Manager – Internal Audit at Zamil Steel India and Zamil Steel Vietnam, where he leads the organization’s internal audit function and drives governance, risk management, and compliance initiatives.

With over 21+ years of extensive professional experience across India and the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, and Qatar), Sumit is a seasoned Internal Audit, Risk Management, and Finance professional with deep expertise in Risk Assurance, Compliance, Internal Audit, and finance and operational domains, including Treasury Management and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). Throughout his career, he has worked with organizations across diverse sectors such as Manufacturing, Construction, Solar Energy, Telecommunications, BPO, and Information Technology.

Sumit possesses strong expertise in corporate governance, enterprise risk management, regulatory compliance, SOX framework design and implementation, forensic audits, special investigations, fraud risk management, and the development of robust internal control frameworks. He has also led several operational and management audits, contributing to the design and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and strengthening organizational processes.

Sunil Kumar Yadav

General Manager - North & Institutional Sales

Sunil Kumar is a Mechanical Engineer from JNC, Maharashtra, with a postgraduate specialization in Marketing and Finance from SIU, Pune. With over 21 years of experience, he is a seasoned sales and business development leader in the construction and steel infrastructure industry.

He began his career in 2005 with CBS Technology Pvt. Ltd. and joined the Vardhman Group in 2007 as Senior Manager – Sales & Business Development. His strong performance led to his promotion to National Head in 2010, where he successfully drove business growth and strengthened the company’s market presence.

In 2014, Sunil joined Zamil Steel India as Regional Sales Manager – Institutional Sales. He has successfully led several landmark projects, including the execution of over 30 Indian Railways workshop and railway infrastructure projects across India, significantly strengthening Zamil Steel’s presence in the government and institutional sectors. His achievements earned him promotions to Head – Institutional Sales in 2017 and General Manager – Institutional Sales & BD in 2022.

In 2025, he assumed additional responsibility for the North India and Nepal Private Market Business. Known for his collaborative, customer-centric, and results-driven leadership style, Sunil excels at building high-performing teams, developing strategic partnerships, and driving sustainable business growth.

Girish C

General Manager - Sales (South)

Girish is a Mechanical Engineer from BMS Institute of Technology, college in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

He has 15+ years of rich & varied experience across various industry segments and close to 12 years of experience in steel building industry alone, having started his professional career with Rittal India (Friedhelm Loh Group).

Girish has worked at various senior & management positions for Kirby Building Systems India and Zamil Steel Buildings India, he was the Key Account Manager of Fire Pro Systems before joining again with Zamil Steel Buildings India in 2021.

As a General Manager - Sales & Business Development (South), a dedicated outcome-oriented sales professional with focus on customer centric relationship and helping organisation grow in sustained environment. He is very upbeat on the Indian story in the current global phenomena and Zamil Steel India being a leader in the market.

Pankaj A Tahiliani

General Manager - Sales (West)

Pankaj, a civil engineer with 24 years of diversified experience in Sales, Business Development and Project Management for Pre-Engineered Buildings, turnkey construction of Industrial and Residential projects, having a proven track record of excellent performance, achieving the business targets, and successfully delivering the projects.

Before joining the Zamil Steel family in 2012, he worked with Tata BlueScope Steel and Interarch Building Products. He started his career in 2002 with Kuber Constructions as a project engineer for residential buildings. His journey in the corporate world started in 2005 with Diebold Systems India Pvt Ltd. He has rich experience of 20 years in the Pre-Engineered Building industry, working in diverse capacities.

He is a seasoned leader capable of motivating, training and developing the team effectively along with mapping their growth plan while embracing work enthusiasm.

He is experienced in handling key accounts of multinational corporations, with excellent communication & customer relationship skills, resulting in customer satisfaction and repeat orders.

As a General Manager - Sales and Business Development (West), he is successfully managing and developing a high-performing sales team of 15 people across Western and Central India (Maharashtra and Gujarat).
